For this series, I wanted to create something that felt a little different from traditional yoga photography. Instead of relying on heavily edited digital images, I wanted to make something by hand using the cyanotype process. Each print was created by coating the paper with light-sensitive chemicals, placing the negatives on top and exposing them in the sun before washing and drying them by hand.

One of the things I love about cyanotypes is that you never know exactly what you're going to get. The weather, the strength of the sunlight and the chemistry all play a part, meaning every print ends up with its own texture, imperfections and character. Rather than trying to control every detail, I wanted to embrace that unpredictability and let the process shape the final images.

At a time when so much imagery is created digitally or generated using AI, it felt important to slow things down and make something physical. I wanted every mark, texture and imperfection to come from a real process, giving the work a rawness and honesty that you only get from making things by hand.

Visually, I was interested in repetition and rhythm, layering movements and poses to create compositions that sit somewhere between photography, printmaking and collage. The repeated forms create a sense of flow, almost turning individual poses into a sequence of movement rather than a single frozen moment.

Luke Saxon is a visual artist working across photography, collage and analogue printmaking. His practice explores the relationship between people and the natural world, using handmade processes to create work that sits somewhere between documentary and abstraction. Working with photography as a starting point, he combines collage, cyanotype and printmaking to create images that embrace chance, materiality and experimentation.

Alongside his personal practice, Luke collaborates with brands, galleries and cultural organisations to develop original commissions, workshops and creative projects. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
